For the next 4.5 years, she, alongside her family, grappled with the challenges of long hospital stays and the relentless fight against the illness. Yet, amidst these trying times, they found solace in something unexpected: art.

Novalie's family, always lovers of art, discovered its therapeutic power during her treatment. Together, they transformed the sterile walls of the cancer ward into an inspiring gallery adorned with vibrant colors and uplifting quotes. Amidst the bleakness, they planted seeds of hope and beauty.

The turning point arrived during the approach of Mother's Day in 2022 when Novalie, at the behest of her favorite nurses, crafted cards for their mothers. What began as a small gesture blossomed into an unexpected journey. She not only made 12 cards but joyfully created a staggering 100 cards by the time Father's Day arrived. Their confined hospital room metamorphosed into a bustling greeting card atelier.

Finally, spring of 2022 marked a new chapter as Novalie could leave the hospital after an extensive stay. Yet, her creative spirit never waned. Thoughts of designing Christmas cards birthed the idea of an Etsy store, where her artistic visions could reach a broader audience.

Novalie's entrepreneurial endeavor wasn't solely about sharing her art; it was a beacon of generosity. A remarkable 50% of her profits were dedicated to children's cancer charities, a testament to her compassionate spirit. Her journey captured the attention of Grafico, a renowned company, and the hearts of Eliza and Liberty from "The Block."

The support poured in, not just as recognition for her talent, but as a genuine desire to aid her cause. Through limited edition prints, Grafico championed Novalie's 'Bee Brave' artwork, channeling 100% of the proceeds to the Abbey Solo Foundation. This foundation stands as a beacon of hope for families navigating childhood cancer, providing practical support to ease financial and emotional burdens, ensuring families can remain close during their child's treatment.

Novalie's story is a testament to the power of resilience, the beauty of art, and the unwavering human spirit in the face of adversity. It's a narrative that reminds us that within every challenge lies the seed of opportunity and the potential to create something truly remarkable.

The Project: An Extraordinary Nigh

We were on holiday in Melbourne from Sunday to Wednesday, and Monday night was already a highlight because we attended  The Project . The experience was so awesome that we decided to get tickets for Tuesday night as well. This time, we invited our cousin Kasma to come along, and what an extraordinary night it turned out to be! The hosts for the night were Sarah Harris, Waleed Aly, Sam Thornton, and Kate Lambrook. Plus, they had a special guest appearance from none other than J Balvin. The energy in the studio was incredible, and I loved how interactive the experience was.
